Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Data Quality Engineer to establish and operationalize enterprise Data Quality across the organization’s data platform. The role will embed automated quality controls across the Lakehouse, ensure source-to-target reconciliation, identify root causes of data issues, and work closely with Data Owners, Data Stewards and Data Engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement enterprise Data Quality frameworks, standards, KPIs, dimensions and thresholds.
- Perform data profiling and baseline assessments across critical source systems.
- Design and implement automated DQ controls across Bronze, Silver and Gold/Curated layers.
- Build pipeline-embedded validation, rejection, quarantine and remediation mechanisms.
- Establish source-to-target reconciliation controls covering completeness, accuracy and consistency.
- Monitor DQ dimensions including accuracy, completeness, validity, consistency, uniqueness, timeliness and referential integrity.
- Perform root-cause analysis and coordinate remediation with Data Owners, Engineers and source-system teams.
- Translate business rules, constraints, reference data and historical requirements into executable DQ rules.
- Support Microsoft Purview and MDM, including CDE identification, DQ scoring, duplicate detection and golden-record validation.
- Maintain traceability between business requirements, DQ rules, metadata, models and source-to-target mappings.
- Develop DQ dashboards and management reporting.
- Coach Data Stewards and business teams on DQ practices and tooling.
Required Skills
- 7+ years in Data Quality / Data Engineering / Data Management / Data Governance.
- Strong hands-on experience in data profiling, DQ rules, validation, reconciliation and remediation.
- Advanced SQL.
- Practical Python / PySpark / Spark experience.
- Experience with Azure / Microsoft Fabric / Databricks / Lakehouse / Medallion Architecture.
- Microsoft Purview and MDM experience.
- Strong understanding of relational and dimensional modelling, keys, normalization, referential integrity and SCD.
- Knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK2 / ISO 8000.
- Knowledge of UAE data regulations, including UAE PDPL, Dubai Data Law and DESC ISR, is preferred.
