Brief Job Description:
“An exciting opportunity to be a part of overall battery development for electric vehicle applications and leading the activities starting from the cell, all the way to the battery pack for enhancement of its overall life and performance characteristics. Responsible as a team lead for an in-depth analysis both at cell and pack level for optimizing the overall battery operation.”
- Lead in overall battery cell development activities – cell selection, characterization, performance, and life cycle evaluation, defining battery cell operational bounds.
- Lead in developing battery cell model (equivalent circuit, electrochemical, and machine leaning based), battery degradation model (SEI, ALI etc.) development and algorithm (SOC, SOH, PLE) development
- Lead the team in proto-building the battery packs and performing thermal analysis for understanding the temperature distribution, charge-time identification etc.
- Lead in supplier interactions for cell evaluation including cell quality, cell safety, cell life and performance, tests, and report generations.
- Lead cell and battery pack DVP/DVVP test preparation and completion.
- Lead battery pack field analysis for design performance evaluation and corrective actions using battery cell knowledge.
Required Education/Skills:
- Tech./PhD in Electrical/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 10-15 years of experience in leading the team in overall battery cell and pack development starting from cell selection, testing, battery pack proto development, battery model and algorithm development etc.
- Proven expertise in battery chemistries such as NMC, LFP and their degradation studies and model development.
- Experience in battery cell electrochemical (non-destructive, destructive) analysis.
- Experienced in developing battery models – electrical equivalent circuit, electrochemical models, and lumped thermal models either through academic studies or industrial work.
- Familiar with battery terminologies such as different charge/discharge profiles, HPPC, EIS, OCV, SOC, DOD, SOH, etc.
- Hands-on experience with software: GT-SUITE (AUTO LION), Battery Design Studio, COMSOL, MATLAB/SIMULINK, Python.
- Battery non-destructive electrochemical analysis such as dCA/ICA for degradation mechanism identification
- Numerical techniques for solving PDE’s, ODE’s and algebraic equations
- Familiar with optimization techniques.
